About Them Gifs And Bots

The other day, I posted about not needing gifs and bots to be a streamer. Since I posted that, I have had a chat with more than a few streamers and come to the conclusion that you really DO need a bot. Not necessarily with all the bells and whistles, but with things that grab your attention.

With streaming, sometimes you are so engrossed in what you are doing, or you need a lot of concentration, that you don’t see when someone arrives or says hi, or hits the follow / host button.

Just having a sound or a pop-up to say Red_JaCk577 is now following you can get your attention to say thank you. Or a noise when ReddyPlayaWun hosts you can grab you quickly so you can appreciate what they have done. Having someone host you. or follow you is an honour.

I watched a youtube video a couple of days ago about the do’s and don’ts of streaming, and one of the things said, was there are a lot of channels out there, and this viewer chose YOU to visit. My ScottyBot makes a whoosh when someone arrives so I can see who it is. It also whispers to me who it is. I do not speak to that person until they speak to me. The reason for this is they may just want to stay and lurk. They may be the type of person who stays forever but doesn’t like to talk. Don’t force them to.

Another reason for a bot is to set a command that will repeat at regular intervals if you set them to. Things like rules, when you stream and other streamers who are part of a team or who regularly co-stream with you.

You don’t need to add games, but sometimes they are handy to have so your viewers can interact with one another. When I go onto a stream, there are times when the streamer is occupied and you find that part boring, so you play a little game and others join in.

There are two main bots, ScorpBot and ScottyBot. Both do roughly the same thing, and both are free to use. Donations give added extras though, but they aren’t necessary.

So, maybe as you are starting out, you may need to just talk and not worry about a bot, but as you get more and more, then bots become more and more useful. It is very rare to find a stream without one now. Mixer even has its own limited one called HypeBot.

It is definitely something to think about. I found a video by a streamer who gives information on how to start out. It may be worth checking it out.

Games With Gold – October 2017

October’s Games With Gold have been announced, and to me, it is a very weak month. I don’t know if they are getting ready for a mega month, or they are running out of things to give away for free.

Each XBOX One game is available for a full month, and each XBOX 360 game, playable through Backward Compatibility, is available for half a month.

A girl returns home from a year abroad to an empty house and finds secrets dotted around the house. Can she find out what has happened to them, and where they are?

A first-person game by the developers of Pneuma: Breath of Life and has elements of Portal to it. An interesting looking puzzle game.

Available to play on the XBOX One through Backward Compatibility, this is another platformer following the trials of Rayman.

Available October 1st, 2017 to October 15th, 2017

Medal Of Honor: Airborne
A first-person World War II shooter and the eleventh in the series that tried to combat Call of Duty. FIrst released in 2006.

Available October 16th, 2017 to October 31st, 2017

Forza Motorsport 7 – First Thoughts

One of the things I like about the Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon games is that they always release a demo before the game is due out so people can see what it is like on a limited track and vehicle base.

I decided to stream my playing of the demo and say my thoughts as I was playing it. The demo allows you to use three vehicles, on three tracks and choose three racers.

This is what I thought.

Advice On Streaming And Broadcasting By @MahdDogg

When you play games on the XBOX, PlayStation or Computer, you have the option to broadcast so other people can watch you and interact with you. There are different means of doing so, with the two main ones being Mixer (formerly Beam) and Twitch.

Another broadcaster, MahdDogg, has written a post on advice for broadcasting with what you do and don’t need. With his permission, I am sharing this today in the form of a link.

Please head over and read:

EA Access

Electronic Arts is one of the biggest software publishing houses on the planet. They produce sports games like UFC, Madden, FIFA, NFL, NHL as well as other games like the Mass Effect series, the Dragon Age series, Need For Speed games and Battlefield series.

On the XBOX, they have EA Access. This is paid subscription that gives you access to a number of games at a reduced price, and some which come free with the subscription.

The price for it is £19.99 / $29.99 a year. For this, you get 10% off the price of all Electronic Arts games and access to all of the games in the Vault, and with some games, you get early access when you purchase them, or a free trial.

Games currently in the vault are:

  • Battlefield 3
  • Battlefield 4
  • Battlefield Bad Company 2
  • Battlefield Hardline
  • Bejeweled 2
  • Bejeweled 3

That is 49 games that you get to play as much as you want for £19.99 / $29.99

The game trials are a limited time to play a game to see if you like it and if you do decide to buy it, then your stats and progress carry on from where you were on the trial. It is definitely worth the price if you play any of the games above.

Games With Gold – August 2017

August’s Games With Gold sees one of my games on the list and another that has piqued my interest a couple of times with people telling me how good it is.

I have seen a couple of people on websites predicting the upcoming games but they have been well out. I find there is no point in trying to predict as I have no way of knowing how the minds at XBOX command work.

As usual, the XBOX One games will go for One month, and the XBOX 360 games will go for half a month.

XBOX 360 games are playable on the XBOX One through Backward Compatibility.

XBOX ONE August 1st – August 31st
Slime Rancher

XBOX ONE August 16th – September 15th
Trials Fusion

XBOX 360 August 1st – August 15th

XBOX 360 August 16th – August 31st
Red Faction Armageddon

Dabble With Diablo This Weekend

Every so often, games are made playable to everyone with Xbox Live Gold for a weekend so they can try the game and see if they like it or not. This weekend is the turn of Diablo III – Ultimate Edition.

This is a five act story which allows you to play as a character referred to as the Nephalim who fights through levels of enemies trying to defeat the minions of darkness. You can play as one of several character classes

  • Barbarian – A beast who gets up close and personal with the bad guys and can rip them apart. An ability to leap on the heads of the beasts has always been a favourite for me.
  • Crusader – A knight of sorts who uses sword and shield and can heal party members.
  • Demon Hunter – Uses crossbows or hand crossbows – one in each hand for extra attack speed – and can summon creatures to aid him.
  • Monk – A martial artist who can attack many creatures at once and can even pass through enemies, attacking them as they go.
  • Necromancer – Only available through DLC purchase. Raises the dead to fight alongside them, and curses the enemies, or even makes corpses to explode to kill other enemies.
  • Witch Doctor – Uses blow darts or summons creatures to do their bidding and terrifies the enemies, sometimes literally scaring them to death.
  • Wizard – Wielder of powerful magicks and spells that can slow down time make enemies attack each other.

The game is free from Thursday, July 27th, 2017 – Monday, July 31st, 2017. It is an isometric view game with lots of blood and gore. Each character has their own story that goes with them, and there are male or female versions of each.

The Eternal Edition is also on offer during this time, and this includes the Necromancer.
